While most of us only know Déjà Vu — or refer to it whenever we experience something strange, such as remembering something that we haven’t experienced before — there are actually other phenomena of the mind that we experience, though we never have the right word for them. I found this article because I suddenly became interested in the other works of the mind besides Déjà Vu, having seen the meaning of Déjà Senti from another post.I decided to summarize the article to give you guys a clearer understanding of each phenomenon. 

Here are 10 strange phenomena of the mind:

• Déjà Vu - it is when you are certain that you have experienced or seen a new situation before and you feel as if the situation already happened or is repeating itself.
• Déjà Vécu - it is when you think you have experienced something before, but in great detail, such as recognizing sounds or smells.
• Déjà Visité - it is when you have an uncanny knowledge of a place you haven’t been to before; you know your way around the place despite the fact that you haven’t been there before, and you know that it is impossible for you to have that knowledge.
• Déjà Senti - it is the phenomenon of having “already felt” something. This is probably the phenomenon I found the hardest to understand. Think of it as Déjà Vu or Déjà Vécu, but after a short amount of time, you suddenly forget that it even happened. “You could think of it as the feeling of having just spoken, but realizing that you, in fact, didn’t utter a word.”
• Jamais Vu - or “never seen” describes a familiar situation that is not recognized. It is usually considered the opposite of Déjà Vu. It is when a person momentarily does not recognize something or someone, despite knowing that they have seen that person or place or thing before. In the research mentioned in the article, Chris Moulin asked 92 volunteers to write the word “door” thirty times in sixty seconds. Sixty-eight percent of the volunteers showed symptoms of Jamais Vu, such as beginning to doubt that “door” is even a real word. This lead the researcher to believe that Jamais Vu may be a symptom of brain fatigue.
• Presque Vu - or “almost seen” is the feeling that you think you are about to experience an epiphany, but that epiphany does not come. It is described to be similar to the “tip-of-the-tongue” sensation.
• L’esprit de l’Escalier - or “stairway wit” is when you think of a clever comeback when it is too late. This is my favorite because it happens to me all the time. Who would’ve thought that they have a word for this situation?
• Capgras Delusion - it is when you think that a family member or a close friend has been replaced by an identical looking impostor. 
• Fregoli Delusion - it is when you believe that different people are just the same person in different disguises.
• Prosopagnosia - it is when you do not recognize someone or something that you should know. People who experience this disorder usually their senses to recognize a person, such as a person’s perfume or sound of their voice.
